Health and Safety Manager - Multi-Site
Location: Hammond, Indiana
Degree: B.S. / B.A. or equivalent
Salary / Compensation: $60,000 +
Job Description: The H&S Manager will be responsible for the overall supervision and administration of all project safety, accountability programs, accident and fire protection programs, and risk management issues, while maintaining full compliance with company, client and state/federal safety regulations.
Essential Functions: Ensure full compliance with all company, state/federal and client safety regulations is maintained at all times. Actively participate in the development and implementation of safety policies and programs, safe work practices, safety training programs, and drug testing policies, and DOT compliance Advise management regarding the administration of the companys safety programs. Provide technical and administrative direction to personnel.. Work with the Corporate Safety Director, Managers and Regional Managers to assist in achieving the goals of the business unit. Issue direction for project compliance. Initiate and participate in all accident/incident investigations with operations personnel to determine root-causes and develop a corrective action plan. Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interface and teamwork with project and/or operations management personnel. Maintain Accountability Programs on all projects for safety-related issues and work with supervision to ensure uniform application of safety-related discipline. Monitor compliance with all drug and alcohol consortiums Support DOT compliance, Review and provide input on safety-related provisions in contracts and bid proposals, as needed. Conduct or schedule training for supervision and field employees for new hire/re-hire orientations, client orientations, 10 OSHA Safety, etc., as required. Conduct/schedule other training as may be required to maintain compliance with Corporate Safety Manual procedures, Client rules, or state/federal safety regulations. Perform additional related duties, as required.
Qualifications: 3-5+ years safety experience in an industrial environment. 2+ years experience in a safety supervisory/management role. Bachelors degree in occupational safety and health management or related field preferred. Thorough understanding of federal OSHA safety regulations, as well as applicable state regulations. Excellent understanding of project safety planning/management. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills;. Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
